Follow these simple steps to install Reading Copilot as an unpacked extension in Chrome. This is the developer version for testing and development purposes.
Get the Reading Copilot extension package (ZIP file)
Follow these steps to install Reading Copilot in Chrome
Download the Reading Copilot extension ZIP file to your computer.
Click the download button below to get the extension package.
Extract the downloaded ZIP file to a folder on your computer.
Right-click the ZIP file and select "Extract All" or use your preferred extraction tool. Remember where you extracted it!
Navigate to Chrome's extensions management page.
Open Chrome and go to chrome://extensions/ or click the three-dot menu → More tools → Extensions.
Turn on Developer mode in the top-right corner of the extensions page.
Toggle the "Developer mode" switch in the top-right corner of the extensions page.
Click "Load unpacked" and select the extracted extension folder.
Click the "Load unpacked" button that appears, then navigate to and select the folder you extracted in step 2.
Confirm that Reading Copilot appears in your extensions list.
You should see Reading Copilot in your extensions list. Pin it to your toolbar for easy access!
chrome://extensions/ in the address barMake sure you selected the folder containing the manifest.json file, not the ZIP file itself. Extract the ZIP first, then select the extracted folder.
Try reloading the extension by going to chrome://extensions/, finding Reading Copilot, and clicking the refresh icon. Also make sure the extension is enabled (toggle switch is on).
Make sure Developer mode is enabled. Look for the toggle switch in the top-right corner of the chrome://extensions/ page and turn it on.
Once installed, visit any website and start clicking words to see their contextual meanings!
